Michelle comes to play

I had a special visitor over the weekend. Michelle came all the way from Maryland to come play with me!! Michelle and my mom were best friends in high school... She was really sweet and helpful. She has two little boys who are 2 and 3 1/2 so she knows all about caring for little babies like me :). We did lots of fun things with her. We took her out to the Nike campus, hit up the Employee store, showed her the neighborhood, walked the waterfront, went to Saturday market, and topped it off with a Timbers game!
Friday night I hung out with dad because they went to their friend's bar "Zach's Shack" to see if they could track down Zach. Guess they ended up seeing Zach and Maria who are both old friends of theirs from high school. It was a fun reunion of sorts for all of them. I got to meet Maria, Zach and Mike (Maria's boyfriend) on Sunday because they came over and hung out for a bit at our house. It was great having Michelle visit. Hopefully next time I'll get to hang out with her boys because they're really cute!!

I'm a big kid now...

Guess what - I figured out how to rollover!! Mom and Dad are always putting me on my tummy and I'm not a huge fan of the whole thing so I took matters into my own hands and figured how to roll onto my back! So now when they put me on my tummy I can just rollover - which makes me pretty happy - I always smile and giggle when I get back onto my back. I think they like it when I do it because they always proceed to but me back on my tummy!

bath time fun...

I like baths - it's so fun to splash around in the water... I can't wait until I get to take real bath play in lots of water!! I am an aquarius after all :) ... plus I think I got some of Mom's genes because I she spent about half her life in water!!

Look Ma, Two Hands!

It's official.... I'm OBSESSED with my thumb!! Now that I've figured out that I can suck on my thumb I pretty much do it all the time. I prefer my left thumb but I'll give the right one a try occasionally. Sometimes I even try to suck on both thumbs at the same time :)

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today was Dad's birthday! He claims he turned 29 but I think it's more like 37 :). It was a pretty fun day - we all hung out in my room for a while this morning and dad even played guitar for me!! He sang fun songs like Puff the Magic Dragon and Old McDonald - i really liked it. I hope he learns lots of songs to sing to me! Then we did some reading... he's teaching me how to brew beer :) Sounds fun huh? After that we all headed off to Bumblekiss for some brunch... it's one of my parents favorite breakfast spots. Then we topped the day off at the County Cork with Uncle John, Aunt Jennifer and lots of my dad's friends. Some of my friends were there too! Sam, Bailey and Graham all came - so we had fun hanging out together. Whew! I'm beat... time for bed... but not before some birthday cake!!

Iron Mike

Mom and I had a big trip. We flew all the way to Kentucky! It was my first time flying and I must say I'm a natural (I think I got my Dad's travel genes :). I just played and slept pretty much the whole time and didn't even cry once. It was a hard trip for Mom because we were there for the funeral of her dive coach Mike Lyden. After a hard fought battle with cancer, he passed away April 11th, 2008. From what she's told me he was a pretty amazing guy and she's really going to miss him. All her college teammates were there as well and it was really fun meeting them. They told lots of great stories about "Iron Mike" and their college days. Mike is actually the one who encouraged my mom to apply for an internship at Nike when she graduated so technically it's him I have to thank for my mom and dad meeting and having me!! :) Mike Lyden 1956-2008

Mom gets a play day

Mom was pretty excited this morning because she got to go the mountain with Dad and snowboard for the first time this season. I was pretty excited because Uncle John and Aunt Jennifer came over to hang out with me all day!! I had lots of fun with them - I hope they come back and babysit me again sometime soon :) I was hoping to get a picture with them but mom forgot to take one before they left. Guess we'll have to get one next time...

Blowout at the park

I just love sunny days!! Mom and Dad took me and the dogs on a little hike in Washington Park (Hoyt Arboretum) then we all had a picnic in the grass. Everything was going very smoothly until Dad picked me up and realized that I had blown out my diaper!! So he had lots of fun changing my diaper and taking off my onesie and pants since they were pretty messy. Guess they forgot to bring a change of clothes for me so I got to hang out in a t-shirt and diaper the rest of the time - it was really comfy. Then we took our first family portrait - check me out I'm the one in the green and white striped shirt and a diaper :)

i have a boyfriend

His name is Sam. He's 3 weeks older than me and very mature. Dad says I can't date until I'm 25 so I tell him we're "just friends". :) Isn't he cute!

tough day

I had my 2 month check up today... I was looking forward to it because my doctor is great and loves when I come to visit. I weighed in at 12lbs 6oz and measured 24 inches long. That put me at 90% for weight and 95% for length, can you believe it!! What I didn't know was that I was due for my first round of vaccinations. The nurse stuck me with 2 needles in my leg - that hurt! But I was tough and got over it pretty quick. Dad was really proud of me :) Besides it didn't hurt as bad as when I poked myself in the eye later that day - now that HURT !!!

family adventure... take 1

We had our first "family adventure" today. All 5 of us (me, mommy, daddy, Mazie and Bruno) got in the car and headed to Hood River. We were hoping to do a hike but it was raining really hard so we had to go with plan B which was letting dad take the dogs to play in the water while mom and I stayed dry in the car :). On the way home the weather let up a bit (so we thought!) and we stopped at Lewis and Clark and went for a nice walk with the dogs which was fun. The dogs were super happy to get another play time and mom was happy b/c she got to get out of the car! We ended up getting rained on but I stayed dry and warm thanks to my cool new Ergo carrier and dad taking his jacket off to put it over me :) All in all it was a fun day, I'm looking forward to our next family adventure.

Guess this is what happens when it's been raining for a long time and dad gets stir crazy!! He's pretty silly... he made all of us laugh pretty hard.

8 weeks old...

I'm eight weeks old today!! It was a pretty fun day - I went with mom to Nike and we met dad at the climbing gym. At first I wasn't going to let them climb because I wanted some attention, but since mom is so excited to climb again I decided to take a nice long nap and let them climb for a while. Then when we got home it was nice and sunny so we got to hang out outside with the dogs. I love being outside especially when it's not raining!!! Sophie Sunshine is back in action :)

My thumb

I'm starting to discover my thumb! Just my left one though... I wonder if that means I'm going to be a lefty? Both my parents are right handed but Yia Yia and Uncle John are lefty's. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

giggles...

We hung out with my mom's friend Bari today... and I was just full of smiles and laughs!! Well, maybe not quite laughs, but I did have a good case of the giggles. Mom and Bari both thought it was pretty cute so I kept doing it for while... :)
