One more Christmas post...

Whew - we've been so busy it's hard to capture it all!! It's been fun to see all my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. More gifts !!!

Guess what - I got to open even more gifts!! Since my yiayia and papou spent Christmas with my aunt, uncle and cousins in Colorado we did a seperate Christmas with them at my Uncle John and Aunt Jennifer's house... They made this awesome brunch that I totally chowed on and then I got to open a bunch more presents :). Lucky me!

I got soo many fun things - my yiayia even made me a doll. She made the whole thing - including her own sleep sack that looks just like mine! We can be twins :) At first my mom was a bit hesitant about the whole doll thing but even she had to admit that it was a pretty cute doll and was totally impressed that her mom made it herself. We're going to be pals I think :). My mom and dad we're super excited about a car seat that I got too - I think they are going to put it on one of their bikes so I can cruise around time with them! And don't fear - I got a helmet to go with it :)

Merry Christmas!!!

Well I don't really get this Christmas thing quite yet but I did have lots of fun opening presents and playing with lots of new toys!!! I think I could sit by our Christmas tree and just go through all the stuff under there for hours! So much to explore!!! It's been fun having my cousins around to play with as well... Megan and I have been "sharing" all of our toys and Cam keeps us pretty entertained.

Whoaaaaa!

Check it out I went sledding for real today!!! Forget being pulled around my front yard I told mom and dad that I wanted to hit the big hill with my cousin Cam :). Megan (my cousin who is 2 months younger) seemed up for hitting the sled hill as well so we all headed to a nearby park to play with the "big" kids :) First my dad took me down the hill then I went with mom... I loved it!! we went sooooo fast!!! I think next time I want to build a ramp so we can catch some air!!!

snow daze

Check out my snow angel! Everyone was out in street playing today so I wanted to get in some play time as well- I'm looking forward to being able to sled with all my neighbor buddies when it snows like this again! (if that ever happens :). We went for a nice walk down to the hardware store - it was fun to be able to walk down the middle of the road in the snow. Since they are mandating that all cars have chains in Portland not too many people are driving around - there are more cross country skiers than cars!!

girl on a mission

Watch out - here I come!!! My friend Graham lent me his little push toy since he's older and can walk without it - I'm officially obsessed!!! I haven't quite figured out how to steer it yet but I can usually sucker mom and dad into helping with that. I like to push it all around the house - occasionally I'll stop and take a little "field trip" on another piece of furniture or door frame - but I make sure I can always get back to the car so I can keep motoring on :)

One of my favorite things to do...

is to go grocery shopping!!! I love riding in the carts and helping mom and dad pick out their groceries! And i LOVE saying hi to all the other shoppers. Everyone always seems to be so happy (maybe that's because I smile at them until they smile back!). I like to wave at all the other shoppers too which is fun b/c they all make these funny faces and wave back.. it's a fun game.

My first snow day!

Wow - it was so cool today - all day long white stuff dropped from the sky and our whole lawn was covered in white!!! I had to get outside and check it out so mom and dad bundled me up and we went sledding!! It was so fun! It was definitely pretty cold outside but I didn't really mind. Thankfully my Aunt Dena had sent home a warm fuzzy snow suit with my mom so that kept me pretty cozy. I can't believe I actually got to see it snow at my house!!! I guess that doesn't happen around these parts very often :)

First Two Teeth!!

Guess what - I got my first two teeth!!! If you look closely you can see them in this picture...barely but you can... I swear!! It's the bottom two... Geez if it took 10 months to get the first two I wonder how long it will be before I have all of them - I'll be like 10 years old!!!

I might actually crawl after all... :)

Let's just say I've been taking my time trying to figure out how to crawl. Walking is way more fun and I can usually sucker someone into helping me walk all over the house... :) I especially love walking into the bathroom!! But I had a major breakthrough the other day and mom and dad insisted on getting it on tape. I actually crawled forward! I've been spinning around in circles for a while now but I never actually move forward. So here it is - my first moves forward. I wouldn't quite call it crawling but it's a start!!

T-day in Tucson!

I sure have gotten to see lots of my cousins, aunts and uncles lately! We all flew down to Tucson for Thanksgiving and stayed at my Great-Grandfather's house!! He's 92 years old... can you believe it! He was fun to hang out with - although he would never let me take his glasses! I got to see my Granny, Aunt Terri, cousins Cam and Megan, Great Grandpa Mitchell, Uncle Bill and cousin Dylan. We ate a HUGE turkey for Thanksgiving and although I didn't actually eat any of the meat Granny did give me the leg bone and I LOVED it! Mom and Dad were a bit skeptical and tried to take it away a couple times and there was no way I was giving it up... I just wanted to chew on it all night long!!

I had lots of fun hanging with my cousin Megan - she's 2 months younger than me but about 3 pounds heavier!! I was a little off my game the 1st day there and she was bullying me a bit but that didn't last long. By the 2nd day I was feeling a bit better and we were a pretty good match for each other. She's not quite crawling yet but she does have a pretty good butt scoot :)

My mom and dad went out for some fun hikes while they were there (and got caught in the hail and rain both during both hikes!) which gave me some extra time to hang with Granny, Megan and Aunt Terri and get to know each other a bit better :) It should be fun to see them in a month and see if either Megan or I have figured out how to crawl or walk yet!!

Yiayia's birthday

Well - I have had a busy couple of weeks! I've been on 4 plane rides and traveled to 2 different states in the past 10 days! With those 2 trips I've logged 12 flights and have visited 5 different states - not bad for 10 months!

The first trip was to Colorado to see my Yiayia, Papou, Uncle Andrew, Aunt Dena and cousins Leo and TJ. Dad had some work in Denver so Mom and I took the opportunity to join him and get in a visit with the family :). Lucky for us it was the same time as my Yiayia's birthday so we got to celebrate her birthday with her! She seemed pretty excited to have all of her grandchildren there to sing her happy birthday. My cousing TJ made an awesome birthday cake for her - can't wait until I can help bake cakes!!

We had fun together... I got Yiayia to walk me all around the house. I'm getting pretty good at walking but still need a little help from someone who's willing to lend me their fingers :). Leo, TJ, and I had fun playing too... Leo is going to make sure I stay tough - he tried a few times to knock me over, steal my toys, etc - but I held my own :) Once he realized he couldn't push me around we had fun hanging out. I even shared my snacks with him (man can he eat FAST!!).

We decided to stay up in Vail an extra day which gave us some extra time to hang with my cousins. I got to see my uncle's shop in Edwards called "The Healthy Life". We had yummy smoothies and sandwiches - it was fun to hang out there for a bit!! I also got to see TJ ride his bike (2 wheels!) really fast around a lake - and had some yummy BBQ at Kirby Cosmo's in Minturn.

Somehow mom didn't get too many pictures from our trip to Colorado - she'll have to post more when she gets them from Yiayia.. more pics to come!

my new moves

Well, I've been taking my time getting mobile (don't really see the need to rush these things!) but now that I am 9 months old I figured I'd bust out a few new moves :) I don't think either really qualify me as "mobile" but it is progress...!

A little give and take...

I've been learning how to share at school... It goes like this - I give you something and then you give it back, and then we do it all over again!! I do it with my books, my toys and especially with my food ... I give my mom and dad cheerios and then I take them back and eat them. It's fun to share with the dogs too! I more just tease them with my food though - I act like I'm going to give them my food and then just when they think they're going to get something good I put into my mouth not theirs!!! Hehe.... :) of course I do tend to drop a few nibbles here and there "accidently". I'm also figuring out how to share toys with the dogs!! Check it out - when I give Bruno a toy - he gives it back!!!

My 1st Halloween

Yes.. I was a sunflower for Halloween :) - since lots of people like to call me "Sophie Sunshine" I figured a sunflower was an appropriate costume for my first Halloween!! My Yiayia made this costume just for me!! Guess my mom isn't so good with the ol' sewing machine so lucky for me my Yiayia loves to sew and can make me fun stuff like this!! I had fun going to school and showing off my outfit... my other friends at school had some fun costumes as well... let's see there was a pea pod, a teradactyl, and a tiger! Everyone looked pretty silly!!

Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

I had my first visit to a pumpkin patch! I love playing with the pumpkins.. I tried to play them like drums - they make a fun noise when you bang on them! We searched all over for the perfect pumpkins- mom and dad picked out one for them and I got a little one just for me! Maybe mom will cook the pumpkin after Halloween and I'll get to eat it! (And mom will get to make some pumpkin cookies!! :) I also tried out dirt for the first time... mom and dad wanted to take a picture of me in the corn stalks and I discovered all this great dirt under me that I could scoop up and put right into my mouth. Mom tried to scoop it back out of my mouth which I wasn't so happy about - I liked the dirt!! I'm getting excited for Halloween - I'm going to be a sunflower :) Yiayia made me a costume - just wait until you see me!!

Rockin' fun

My Aunt Terri bought me this cool rocker when i was really little and I couldn't really ride it then but now that I've grown up a bit I can rock back and forth on it all by myself!! It's super fun and I love to hang out on it. Pretty soon I'll be rocking back and forth no handed!! Just wait :)

Who says laundry isn't fun... :)

My dad had to do some laundry before his trip to Florida tomorrow so I thought I'd lend a helping hand :)

My mom and dad have been giving me cheerios!! It's pretty fun... I haven't quite mastered the art of picking them up yet but I am getting better!!

story time

It's been raining outside so I just decided to hang on the couch and read a book...

7 1/2 months old...

Little update on me... let's see - I'm almost 8 months old.. I sit up really well, I love all sorts of food, and I grab just about anything I can get my hands on (then put it in my mouth of course :). Oh yeah, and I've been saying "da da" alot... My dad always seems to respond when I do, I wonder if that sounds means something! Still no teeth, no hair, and don't really see the need to crawl yet - it's really fun just sitting up and playing so I stick to that... lots of my friends and classmates crawl all around so I think I might give a try soon - I want to be able to keep up with them!!! As for now, they all just crawl over to me so that's works out well :)

Orcas Island

Wow!!! We went up to the San Juan Islands this weekend... it was amazing!! We got to ride on a ferry - which I just thought was SO FUN!!! There were so many people and I was sure to smile really big at all of them so they would smile back at me :) The dogs seemed to have fun hanging out with me in the back of the van too... Bruno is really silly - he was climbing all over the place!! I think he was trying to figure out how to get closer to me so we could hang together... :)

We camped at Moran state park in Flash (our van) which is always an adventure. Lots of mom and dad's friends were there and my friend Bailey was there too. We did lots of hikes and explored all day and then hung around the campfire at night. Mom went swimming in the lake and dad I hung out in the hammock. It was great. It was so nice to hang out with friends in such a beautiful place, I hope we go back again next year!!! For more pics - check out our Flickr page.
